Originally founded in 1983 at WFBQ in Indianapolis, IN, The Bob &
Tom Show has grown to be one of the largest nationally syndicated radio
shows of all time. Lead by the comedic geniuses of Bob Kevoian and
Tom Griswold, The Bob & Tom Show entertains listeners around the world
between the hours of 6:00 and 10:00 am EST not only with their extensive
news and sports coverage, but also with a wide variety of original bits
ranging from phone calls from the President of the United States of America,
Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, and the Pope, to songs and gags about
everything from PMS and the XFL to propane and bodily fluids.
Aside Bob and Tom sit several other key figures that make the show the
success that it is today. Kristi Lee, the only female on the show,
is the News Director and can usually be heard giving the 'woman's perspective'
and taking abuse from the rest of the group. Chick McGee, the Sports
Director, is best known for saying things that he'll most likely regret
later and is responsible for some of the funniest and most bizarre parts
of the show. Producer Dean Metcalf can usually be found answering
the incoming phone calls during the morning show and luckily sits on the
other side of the glass, well out of throwing distance from the rest of
the cast.
The Bob & Tom Show has been recognized both locally and nationally
for their efforts, resting among the highest rated in American radio.
The show was awarded the Marconi Award from the National Association of
Broadcasters in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1999, becoming the only radio program
to have won the award four times. The Bob & Tom Show also received
'The Billboard Magazine Radio Personality of the Year' award from 1991
to 1998 and was awarded the National Chairman's Citation Award from the
Leukemia Society of America in 1996 for its fundraising and awareness efforts.
Since their start date, the crew of The Bob & Tom Show has created
more than 25 albums and donated over 4.5 million dollars to various local
charities.
