Nestled within the campus of Oakland University, Meadowbrook Music Festival plays host to a wide variety of acts throughout the summer months and, luckily for us, many big-time comedians often find their way here. For those of you familiar with Michigan's major venues, Meadowbrook very closely resembles DTE Energy Music Theatre (formerly Pine Knob), only on a much smaller scale. Whereas DTE's numbers have been known to surpass 20,000 (including a generous lawn section), seating is much more limited here with a maximum capacity of approx. 7800 people total! Hands down, this is a great place to see a show...

Aside from the lower volumes of people and easier access to seating, Meadowbrook also has a great (and almost affordable) series of concession stands to quench the hunger inside you without leaving your wallet empty. For those who prefer to eat before the show, several big name restaurants are within a five to ten minute driving distance from the venue and because of the lower crowd size, you won't find yourself waiting in lines anywhere, whether it be in the parking lot, at the gates or even at the restrooms.

Finding the place is pretty simple - just follow the directions from Yahoo! Maps and you shouldn't have a problem. The area is still far enough away from Detroit to avoid any major traffic problems, so it's a pretty easy drive. We must note, however, that the Festival has its own seperate entrance, which is clearly marked, so if you find yourself driving around Oakland's campus, you made a wrong turn! Their driveway is just a short travel from the main campus entrance off of Walton Blvd., so when you see that, you're almost there (or you've passed it, depending on which way you're coming from!)

Overall we found this place to have a very homey environment which made it very easy to enjoy the show, so the next time you're in the area, be sure to check their schedule beforehand - you'd be suprised at who you might find!!!
