Evolution  (2001)
Directed by Ivan Rietman

I can sum up this movie in 3 words...Ghostbusters Rip Off!  I know what your saying, "But Ivan Rietman directed Ghostbusters, so how can he rip himself off?" and the answer is, I don't know, but he did.  The basic plot of Evolution goes like this:  Meteorite falls to earth.  Meteorite contains alien life.  Alien life evolves.  Alien life evolves some more.  Alien life KEEPS evolving, and it's up to former scientist and now community college professor, David Duchovny and his sidekick women's volley ball coach Orlando Jones (the 7-Up guy) to save the world.

Now this wasn't really a BAD movie, but it definately wasn't a good one either.  Like I said this is definately a Ghostbusters rip-off, but it's not nearly as good of a movie.  The thing that made Ghostbusters great, was the low-keyed humor of Bill Murray (who--for my money--is one of the greatest comedy actors ever!).  David Duchovny usually has a great sense of low-keyed humor, but he tries to go over the tip in this one, cracking a joke at EVERY chance.  He just didn't pull it off.  The one bright spot was Orlando Jones.  For a film going for over-the-top-humor, Jones is the perfect fit.  He's hilarious, but other than his performance, the film is pretty dismal.  This is a movie to see, only if you are desperate for one to see.
