Reviewing the Flicks

Joe's Apartment (1996)
Directed & Written by John Payson
Starring: Jerry O'Connell
When this movie was realeased back in '96, it was totally blasted by
every critic in the book. And I think I know why...most people don't
find 10000 singing cockroaches all that funny. But this critic does.
This was the first release from MTV films (Beavis and Butthead Do America,
Dead Man On Campus). Originally a short film aired on MTV's Liquid
Television, those crazy execs decided to expand it into a full length feature
starring Jerry O'Connell and Megan Ward (whom I've been in love with since
PCU). The plot is simple: Boy moves to big city. Boy moves
into apartment infested with 10,000 singing cockroaches. Boy meets
girl. Boy likes girl. Girl likes boy. Girl is grossed
out by cockroaches. Girl leaves boy. Cockroaches
help boy get girl back. The end. If your in the mood for
some witty, oscar class comedy, DON'T RENT THIS MOVIE! But
if you like low brow, sophmoric, gross out laughs, check this one out.
It's good for a few chuckles.
