HOLLYWOOD (Just Laugh) - As summer comes to a close and everyone retracts from vacation-mode back to school, work, and pretty much anything that doesn't involve the beach, but the folks at Just Laugh magazine still have a few tricks up their collective sleeves to making this summer one to remember. That's right, it's time once again for the Just Laugh Weenie Awards!

The magazine's disgustingly popular awards ceremony enters its third term this year and insiders have already promised us that this is certain to be the best one yet! Recognizing everyone from the best stand-up comedians and performers of the year, to columnists, comic arists, and even the sexiest computer geeks, Just Laugh has made a name for itself with its ever-self-promoting ceremony that has everyone in the industry just dying to be a part of it. But just what exactly makes the Weenie Awards special from every other cheesy awards show these days?

"All the cool kids are doing it," explained Associate Editor Jason Tanamor. "I mean, we're not trying to brag or anything...at least not too much...but it's pretty well understanded by now that those not involved with the Weenies are, how can I say it nicely, a notch or two lower than the rest of us. It's nothing personal, but I guess in a way it kind of is!"

"It's just that everyone in this industry works so hard to be funny and entertain the world throughout the year," told Scott Sevener, Just Laugh's Editor-in-Chief, "that we felt that there needed to be some sort of way to recognize everything that they do. Of course, this whole thing started two years ago in 2001 and the whole idea has really snow-balled since then, but it's really great that we're able to give a little bit of the extra attention that they all deserve, and have an absolute blast ourselves doing it at the same time!"

Although the final preparations were still being set at the time this went to press, we were able to obtain a complete list of the categories that we'll all be voting on here in a few weeks, which you'll find below. In addition to the old stand-bys, this year's competition will also pay tribute to the comical musicians, our favorite television shows of yesterday, and even the legendary Muppets, so it goes without saying that if you only follow one single awards show, the 3rd Annual Just Laugh Weenie Awards had better be your number one choice!
