It wasn't long after our last creative collaboration that we soon knew
that we just had to do another one! The first attempt, It
Came from Beneath the Bed, had been a comedy/horror story based
around Halloween and was an instant success. It told the tale of
a young man named Jared, who purchased an old mansion which he would soon
learn was haunted. The story follows a mild Night Before Christmas
approach with a terrifying twist at the end - you'll have to read it
for yourself to find out what happens...
Even though the project ended up turning out great, we still felt that
several things could've been changed to make it even better. It had
started out as a spur-of-the-moment, really-last-minute sort of thing,
so we weren't able to get nearly as much involvement as we had originally
hoped. We knew that the next one could be planned out much better
and then immediately tabled the idea for about six months! Looking
back at the calendar come springtime, we knew that it was about time to
get moving on the project, and the rest is history.
A Tale of Two Summers was created much in the same way as its
predecessor, with a few minor altercations. Each chapter is written
by a different author, whose only source material is the chapter which
came directly before theirs. That new chapter is then passed on to
another writer, and so forth...the obvious difference this time around
is that what we actually have here is two independent stories, so the writers
technically only saw what was happening chronologically for their side
of the tale. It may sound a bit confusing now, but trust us - it's
going to get much worse!
Due to the size of this beast, this story will actually be a work in
progress throughout the summer. As the tale will be appearing online
in sections, it quickly becomes obvious that the writers of the later chapters
will already know what has happened in the story - not fair, eh?
Well, after careful consideration and a deep desire to be able to release
this before Christmas, we've decided that it should all work out for the
best and hopefully it's availability online will help keep the storyline(s)
somewhat understandable as we get farther on down the line!
Nevertheless, it's safe to say that the first ten chapters were written
before the story was released, so that should provide enough confusion
to tide you over...
We hope you enjoy our latest creation and look forward to working on
the next one already...at least after a long vacation, that is! Happy
reading...
