| Sept. 17, 2001 - "I'd like to thank Dave Barry. Really,
this Weenie award is as much his as mine, accepting the fact that I won
and he didn't," Max told Just Laugh's editors in a very heartfelt and
touching e-mail following his victory announcement. Being crowned
the champion in one of the two categories that actually reflected how our
readers felt about the content of Just Laugh, Mr. Burbank was obviously
honored by the thought that he was superior to the rest of our contributors,
or at least Dave Barry!
Since the conclusion of the 1st Annual Just Laugh Weenie Awards,
we have been in contact with Dave Barry and his legal team, who expressed
great anxiety over his loss in this year's awards. We did, however,
come to an agreement which aims to please both parties involved:

Mr. Barry will continue to write columns that are really funny

Just Laugh agrees to feature a new category in the upcoming 2nd Annual
Just Laugh Weenie Awards in 2002 entitled Best Dave Barry
Rumor has it that Max is already planning his campaign to further demoralize
the world-reknown author by defeating him in this category as well... |
