"Often imitated and even more so belated,
it's time once again for the Just Laugh Weenie Awards! "

For those of you just joining us, The Weenie Awards are our chance to show appreciation for the absolute best in the industry, covering a wide variety of categories from columnists and cartoonists to bizarre websites and even, well, cereal-box characters... Forget the Oscars, the Golden Globes and even the Webbies - we all know that the most coveted of trophies is the Weenie and it's our pleasure to offer our 2nd annual presentation of the humor industry's finest honor!

If you're wondering exactly how this whole process works, well just keep reading and the answers to all of your questions will soon be answered. Well, at least most of them will...we're not touching anything involving birds OR bees! You'll have to talk to your folks on that one... Nevertheless, we are permitted to explain the concept of The Weenie Awards to you, so pay attention: first, the editors stay awake for many, many days watching late night television and drinking milk straight from the carton, all-the-while jotting down ideas for what would make good categories for this year's awards. Then, they wake up the next morning, scrap all of those ideas and start fresh - this process often repeats itself for months and months...and months...

When a decision has finally been made and they're satsified with the results, it's time to choose the nominations for each category! After consulting various web directories, talent consultants and the local bowling champions, a list of names is put into a hat and one by one, the nominations for each category are revealed. Ok, actually, there's no hat involved, and not a single local bowling team, either, but needless to say, "many sources" are cited for those who have been chosen to compete for the awards each year and we're almost completely certain by now that the whole thing isn't rigged.

Finally, after all of the nominees have been announced and the parties calm down, it's time for the real work to begin. This is the time when we take some of the power away from the ego-hungry editors and let YOU decide who we should be giving our Weenies to! The voting is open for a period of two weeks, during which all of the readers are permitted to cast their ballot and lend a hand to the greatest awards show since sliced bread! Then, when the chaos has subsided and we've finished apologizing to our web host for the barrage of traffic to the server, the tallies will be made and the winners will be announced - it's that simple. Why didn't you think of it, again?
